ACUPUNCTURE
Initial Consultation
When you come for your initial consultation and treatment, you will be invited to answer a series of questions. Your tongue, pulse and abdomen will also be checked before every session. This will help me better understand how to support you by means of acupuncture, and offer dietary and lifestyle advice. I may prescribe Chinese herbal medicine alongside your acupuncture treatment as it often helps to accelerate your progress. This way you will receive treatment on a daily basis.
Is Acupuncture Painful?
Occasionally pain receptors get triggered but it doesn’t happen very often. Any uncomfortable sensations tend to settle very quickly making acupuncture a relaxing and pleasant experience overall. Some areas of the body are naturally more sensitive then others but many people fall asleep during the treatment, which is great as the body can readjust itself freely without the mind interfering. Stress is one of the major obstacles of getting your hormones into a conception-friendly balance. I, therefore, use very fine high quality acupuncture needles which are highly polished to ensure painless insertion.
Heat and Massage
Depending on your Chinese medicine diagnosis, your treatment may involve moxibustion or deep qi touch massage. Moxibustion involves directing heat into specific acupuncture points to enhance your treatment using processed mugwort herb (moxa). If a lager area needs to be heated then often a heat lamp is used instead of the moxa.
Deep qi touch massage is used to enhance relaxation and impact your circulation in a desirable way.
